Are You Ready for an Era Where Artificial Intelligence Transforms Organizational Learning? Discover How Advanced Technologies and Future Thinking Can Lead Your Organization to Thrive in the GenAI Era.
Here's a glimpse into the future of organizational learning:
Maya is a young employee at a medical cybersecurity services company in 2025. The company prides itself on bringing revolutionary innovations to organizational learning. These innovations were exactly what Maya was looking for when she chose this job from dozens of offers on the market last year. She will never forget her first interview with them. Jordan, a virtual figure who looked like her older sister, interviewed her patiently and got to know her deeply. At the end of the successful interview, Jordan invited her to a collaborative computer game that tested analytical thinking, creativity, social influence, leadership, curiosity, and lifelong learning – all relevant to the position Maya was being considered for. After a very enjoyable two hours, Maya received an answer in the form of a video with detailed feedback on her strengths and special skills. She would have been happy to receive such a video for her birthday.
First Month at Work
In her first month of employment, Jordan continued to be a personal supporter for everything and everyone Maya needed to know to feel welcomed, updated, and efficient. This ranged from connecting her with colleagues in the office who were completely 'on her wavelength' and soon became her best friends, to assisting with her daily tasks. The assistance was so precise that Maya felt her expertise growing faster than expected, and thus her managers' satisfaction as well. This was due to high availability, accurate feedback, and the wealth of personalized information that came directly from her artificial personal assistant.
Scenario Building Method
The above scenario was developed using the "Future Thinking" methodology from the IFTF organization. Future Thinking is a field within systems research that aims to generate possible forecasts based on signals and trends identified in the present, which are significant enough to influence how things will happen in the future. Three of the trends on which Maya's scenario is based are:
GenAI Technology Disrupts Reality
Since November 2022, rapid changes have occurred in our work and life. The latest is defined as another earthquake. In May 2024, OpenAI released the GPT-4o model, which can recognize human emotions and generate fluent conversation with people in voice and video. Additionally, the new model can process information at very high speed and can be developed into chatbots (GPTs) focused on specific tasks like training and supporting a new employee in the organization in a way that is personally tailored to the employee. This technology might soon integrate with applications like D-ID Agents, allowing every organization to create a personal avatar for optimizing organizational learning.
Updated Reports on Employer Needs
Reports on labor market demands from 2023 indicate an increase in companies' demand for employees with analytical thinking, creativity, social influence, leadership, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and effective communication skills with both people and intelligent machines.
Generation Z in the Workforce
As young people who grew up in a digital world and are used to using new technologies for learning, communication, and entertainment, Gen Z feels comfortable using video platforms like Zoom, Skype, and FaceTime. They value flexibility in learning and prefer real-time support and learning in their environment. For them, interaction with a virtual character via video allows for a more interactive and engaging learning experience than reading texts or passive participation in professional development lectures. For them, a virtual assistant supporting the organizational learning environment might represent a solution that enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of learning.
The Future of Organizational Learning is Here
Crafting the precise vision of business companies for organizational learning applications that efficiently and humanly integrate artificial intelligence tools can lead to prosperity and rapid growth in today's competitive markets. Organizations will need to change to hire the most suitable Gen Z employees, retain them, and develop their expertise within the organization.
